advantages

Why you should give it a try:

You can use the often dark back of the material to make clearly visible marks with a chalk pen. A sharp pair of scissors is the best buddy to cut the pieces out.

Leather-like details such as seams and rivets will let your faux leather parts look more authentic. Rougher stitches with thicker yarn will also look great if it fits the costume.

If the color of the faux leather finally does not really match your expectation, you can apply some shoe polish for a shinier surface! Remember that the fabric absorbs a lot more of shoe polish than real leather.

work with it

Always try new techniques out on remnants before you apply it on your costume parts!

Store your used applying rag in an emptied shoe polish can to use it again later.

extra tips

It's recommended to wear disposable gloves while applying lots of shoe polish.
